How to convert and download YouTube to MP3 (320 kbps)
Converting YouTube to MP3 is probably the #1 reason people search for YouTube downloaders. You want to take that favorite song, that podcast, that audio you loved, without depending on internet. In this guide I'll show you how in 30 seconds with YTSavr.
Why convert YouTube to MP3?
Common reasons:
- Music: many artists release material on YouTube before Spotify
- Podcasts: to listen offline in the car or gym
- Audiobooks: individual chapters only on YouTube
- Lectures and talks: to review while driving
- Samples for editing: extract audio for your own projects
- Ringtones: use a short clip as a ringtone
Step-by-step MP3 conversion
1. Copy the video link
Open the video on YouTube. In the app, tap Share then Copy link. In the browser, copy the URL from the address bar.
2. Paste it in YTSavr
Go to ytsavr.com, paste the link in the main input, and tap Search video. In 2-4 seconds the thumbnail and quality options appear.
3. Pick Audio MP3
In the quality list you'll see:
- 1080p Full HD (video)
- 720p HD (video)
- 480p SD (video)
- Audio MP3 ← pick this
4. Download
Tap Download. The server extracts the audio from the video and delivers it as MP3. Usually under 10 seconds for songs, up to 30 seconds for long audio.
The file saves with a name like ytsavr_title.mp3.
MP3 quality: what to expect
YouTube doesn't serve audio in artists' "original" formats. Audio on YouTube is compressed to AAC 128-160 kbps on most videos. Some official music channels use up to 256 kbps AAC.
When we convert it to MP3, we keep that quality — we don't fake-improve it. Typical result:
- Music: 128-192 kbps MP3, plenty for normal headphone listening
- Podcasts: 64-128 kbps MP3, clean voice quality
- Lecture audio: 64-96 kbps MP3, intelligible voice
Is it the same quality as Spotify?
Common question. Short answer: not exactly, but close.
- Spotify Free: 96-160 kbps Ogg Vorbis
- Spotify Premium: 320 kbps Ogg Vorbis
- YouTube: 128-192 kbps AAC (equivalent to ~160-256 kbps MP3)
For most ears without audiophile gear, YouTube MP3 sounds indistinguishable from Spotify Free. If you're a serious audiophile or use high-fidelity gear, you'll prefer Spotify Premium or Tidal.
File sizes
MP3s are much smaller than videos:
- 3-minute song: 3-5 MB
- 5-minute song: 5-8 MB
- 30-minute podcast: 25-40 MB
- 1-hour lecture: 50-80 MB
Special cases
Music from official channels (VEVO, Sony, etc.)
These channels have better audio quality than individual channels. If you find a song both on the official channel and a random one, download from the official for better sound.
Live performances
Live concerts on YouTube download just as well. Useful for saving unique performances not available on streaming.
DJ sets
YouTube has tons of DJ sets uploaded by labels or the DJs themselves. MP3 is ideal for car or gym listening.
Ringtones
Android

Limitations
